Can We Stop with the Ecchi Stuff, Please?

I’ll admit, I haven’t ranted for a long time. Mostly because things have been quite calm in the weeb-verse, save for a couple of incidents that I really don’t care about.

In most of my weeb life, I was never a person that really enjoyed ecchi or fans service in anime. Sure, I enjoyed some nice ecchi fans service, but as of late, ecchi jokes have become rather bland and cliche. Or I’ve grown desensitized to them. But, I’m not here to talk about ecchi fans service. It’s pointless to even talk about it because the industry’s gonna continue to use lewd fans service to attract perverts, which is the main source of income. Instead, I’ll be talking about the weebs that, to a large extent, glorify lewdness to the point where I’d be convinced that these people are closet sex offenders.

So, if you’re in a group full of Indonesian weebs, you’re bound to sooner or later come across a post that displays a quote over an image of that season’s semen demon or well-known sex object (like Rias Gremory from DxD). The image is either a prompt, telling you to do X if you’re Y, or a compilation of images conveying a message that’s supposedly profound, but is just downright lewd. Or photoshopped ahegao faces.

No wonder people think weebs are disgusting and lecherous pieces of shit. It’s as if anime is reduced to being nothing but boobs and ass (and armpits, sometimes).

It gets even worse because lewdness has become a new defining factor in distinguishing whose the most elite of the trash can. Put simply, the more lewd you are, the more “profound” you’re supposed to be. This also has an adverse effect on the quality of discussions held within these so-called “otaco” groups. Discussions used to be about the plot of the anime, not the “plot” of the characters. Or predictions about what was going to happen next or discussion of fan theories. Discussion around anime today has degraded to become the following:

*A posts image of the current season’s semen demon*

B comments: “bruh, wut anime”

A replies: “[insert anime here]”

C comments: “DL link pl0x”

D comments: “hurr durr nice tits”

These people are, for the love of fucking God, discussing the sexual features of 2D characters. As if there’s nothing else to discuss.

Perhaps one of the cause is the prevalence of Indonesian fansubbers that upload anime with Indonesian subtitles. Anime was once restricted to those capable of speaking English, an ability confined to the more affluent (and yes, intelligent as well) in Indonesian society. With the appearance of Indonesian subbers, now even a 10-year old can watch lewd anime and indulge in the lewd jokes spreading in the community. And the people in these groups are fucking encouraging it as if it’s a contest to see who can jack off the most, instead of actively reprimanding them for such behaviour.

The role of community is important here, as the rules of the community can either encourage or discourage such behaviour. I am not generalizing, though. I know there are groups out there that have sane people that actually like discussing anime as a form of art or entertainment, and are not lecherous fuckboys that always complain about being single. Well no wonder you’re single.

Of course, I can complain all I want but it won’t change jack shit. I know people won’t suddenly have epiphanies overnight and change their behaviour. But, I really want to turn back the clock to where weeb communities were all about discussing anime, in and of itself, rather than just tits and butts and dicks on anime chicks. Anime is not just about ecchi and fans service. Seriously, fucking stop with the ecchi stuff already.

    1. You really think it’s as shallow as that? I guess this is the lowest common denominator of weebs today.

The issue is the lewd jokes are starting to leak into the normie-sphere, which would further reinforce the already negative stigma weebs already have: that weebs are just disgusting people who can’t get laid and spend 90% of their time glorifying boobs on a screen.
